Meet Peter Redmond, the sandsculpting artist from Victoria Australia.
With a background in graphic design and illustration Peter started carving in sand as a ‘junior’ at Sand Sculpting Australia’s 2006 event at Rye after discovering a love for the art medium. Peter learned quickly, and used the experience as a springboard into other sand sculpting projects.
Since 2006 Peter has worked steadily around
Australia on over 50 Sand Sculpting jobs including working at festivals, events, shopping centres and smaller corporate promotions. Peter is easy-going, and his passion for sand sculpting makes him a natural to be our resident sculptor and tour guide at the national Sand Sculpting exhibition on the Frankston waterfront event.
Peter has competed in several professional competitions and has won people’s choice award at the 2013 Australian Sand Sculpting Championship and 1st Place in Doubles Event in the 2019 Australian Sand Sculpting Championships.
We were lucky enough to secure Peter in January to create an inspiring sculpture of our very own spectacular Clarence Gorge. The sculpture took Peter three days to carve using very fine detail. The sand sculpture is on display in centre until the end of March.
The Clarence Valley Gorge is a familiar weekend activity for locals. It is a enclosed lush private property which accommodates for campers.
